Kesha Dismisses Dr. Luke Lawsuit In California

1. Kesha has dismissed her California-based sexual assault lawsuit against Dr. Luke. A lawyer for the singer tells Gossip Cop this was done to focus exclusively on the ongoing New York case.
2. As Gossip Cop has reported, Kesha originally sued Dr. Luke in Los Angeles in 2014. She accused the producer of sexually, physically, and verbally abusing her. It ended up being a bi-coastal matter with a similar suit filed in New York, and Dr. Luke also filing a countersuit.
3. Earlier this year, Kesha was denied an injunction in New York to let her out of their record contract, and a few aspects of her lawsuit were thrown out. Now Gossip Cop is told in a statement that the singer plans on solely moving forward with that case. “Kesha has dismissed her California action without prejudice while she pursues her appeal and other legal claims in the New York courts,” says attorney Daniel M. Petrocelli.
4. He goes on, “Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label. We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible.”
5. Indeed, Kesha is currently on tour, her first in years. And by dismissing “without prejudice,” she reserves the right to refile the California suit down the line. She now tweeted, “My fight continues. I need to get my music out. I am continuing to fight for my rights in New York.
